A Strategy for Dynamic Programs: Start over and Muddle Through

چکیده
A strategy for constructing dynamic programs is introduced that utilises periodic computation of auxiliary data from scratch and the ability to maintain a query for a limited number of change steps. It is established that if some program can maintain a query for logn change steps after an AC1-computable initialisation, it can be maintained by a first-order dynamic program as well, i.e., in DynFO. As an application, it is shown that decision and optimisation problems defined by monadic second-order (MSO) and guarded second-order logic (GSO) formulas are in DynFO, if only change sequences that produce graphs of bounded treewidth are allowed. To establish this result, Feferman-Vaught-type composition theorems for MSO and GSO are established that might be useful in their own right. 1998 ACM Subject Classification F.1.2 Modes of Computation

Strategy-aligned fuzzy approach for market segment evaluation and selection: a modular decision support system by dynamic network process (DNP)
In competitive markets, market segmentation is a critical point of business, and it can be used as a generic strategy. In each segment, strategies lead companies to their targets; thus, segment selection and the application of the appropriate strategies over time are very important to achieve successful business. This paper aims to model a strategy-aligned fuzzy approach to market segment ev...
متن کاملMulti-start simulated annealing for dynamic plant layout problem
In today’s dynamic market, organizations must be adaptive to market fluctuations. In addition, studies show that material-handling cost makes up between 20 and 50 percent of the total operating cost. Therefore, this paper considers the problem of arranging and rearranging, when there are changes in product mix and demand, manufacturing facilities such that the sum of material handling and rearr...
متن کاملOutperformance Testing of a Dynamic Assets Portfolio Selection Supplemented with a Continuous Paths Levy Process
This study aims at getting a better performance for optimal stock portfolios by modeling stocks prices dynamics through a continuous paths Levy process. To this end, the share prices are simulated using a multi-dimensional geometric Brownian motion model. Then, we use the results to form the optimal portfolio by maximizing the Sharpe ratio and comparing the findings with the outputs of the conv...
متن کاملIntegration of dynamic pricing and overselling with opportunistic cancellation
Abstract We extend the concept of dynamic pricing by integrating it with “overselling with opportunistic cancellation” option, within the framework of dynamic policy. Under this strategy, to sell a stock of perishable product (or capacity) two prices are offered to customers at any given time period. Customers are categorized as high-paying and low-paying ones. The seller deliberately oversel...
متن کاملMeta-model Pruning
Large and complex meta-models such as those of Uml and its profiles are growing due to modelling and inter-operability needs of numerous stakeholders. The complexity of such meta-models has led to coining of the term meta-muddle. Individual users often exercise only a small view of a meta-muddle for tasks ranging from model creation to construction of model transformations. What is the effectiv...
